We spent four nights during Thanksgiving vacation at the Washington Long Beach Peninsula and Astoria, Oregon. The weather was cold but clear. We hiked, slept, and ate a lot.
On the way we had a pit stop in Aberdeen

Plovers spend the winter in Long Beach in great numbers.
The plover flocks are kinetic and amazing to see
It was a rare razor clam weekend only season and here it is a social event. This gentleman showed Fran and I how it works.
Thousands come out the beaches and drive their cars on the beach. The lovely weather helped.
On Saturday we drove to Astoria Oregon which is just a great town. The Astoria Column was built in 1927. You climb 169 stairs up and see the world.
We all climbed up, but Sasha wanted to hang out taking pictures with Michael for a while. Here are the girls from above.
This is Astoria looking west and north to Washington. The bridge is a major landmark over the mighty Columbia river. Yes that is a glider; many were handed out for flinging off the platform. What fun!
